Sydney Festival 2014
I’ve just come back from a wonderful week in Sydney covering the Festival with Guardian Australia. It was an excellent team to be working with, and you should certainly catch up on all of the coverage here.
While you’re doing that, you can read my reviews of:
- All That Fall, from Ireland’s Pan Pan Theatre
- Limbo, from Australia’s Strut & Fret Productions
- The Piper, from Australia’s My Darling Patricia
- Dido & Aeneas, from Germany’s Sasha Waltz & Guests
- La Cucina Dell’Arte, from Belgium’s Circus Ronaldo
- Forklift, from Australia’s KAGE
- I, Malvolio, from England’s Tim Crouch
And a couple of feature articles, where I asked:
On the liveblog, I:
- Went and explored Funpark in Western Sydney’s Bidwill
- Interviewed director Kate Denborough about Forklift
- Tasted some of Messina Gelato’s SydFest treats
- Visited aMoment in Carriageworks’ About An Hour
On video, I:
- Was shown a magic trick from Band of Magicians
- Took at look at Dido & Aeneas’ press-call and spoke to Sasha Waltz
And on the podcast, I spoke about:
- All That Fall
- The Piper and Limbo
- Dido & Aeneas (getting a bit feisty with fellow critic Van Badham)
- The farmers markets at Carriageworks, and Forklift
We’ll be back at it all again in Perth in a few weeks. I cannot wait to get stuck into it.
